About 120 antique vehicles were in Estevan on Sunday night as part of the Coasters 2010 Coast to Coast Tour.
The Coasters pulled into the Woodlawn Regional Park, and they enjoyed a supper and activities that were hosted by the Estevan Antique Auto Club. Many people dropped by to view the wide array of vehicles.
Estevan was their first stop in Saskatchewan, said tour coordinator Fraser Field.
“We see things that a normal person travelling across the Trans-Canada wouldn't see,” said Field. “We avoid that (the Trans-Canada). We get to places that are far more interesting, places like Estevan.”
Between the drivers and their passengers, there are about 250 people involved with the tour, said Field.
Estevan's Alan Bjornson was among those who was involved in the tour. Bjornson was only involved for a few days – he met up with the Coasters last week in Winnipeg, and had to leave the tour on Monday so that he could return to work – but the Coasters left a favourable impression.
“The few days that I've spent with them, I've met a lot of really good people, they're car guys who are going across the country, and seeing sites and points of interest that a person probably normally wouldn't take the time to look at,” said Bjornson.
Bjornson was driving his two-door 1928 Model A sedan on the tour.
The Coasters' tour started on July 4 in St. John's, and it will continue until August 21 in Victoria.
