Health jackpot awarded

THE BIG WINNER of The Health Foundation’s $100,000 Cash Lottery is Robert Larochelle of Moosomin. Pictured above right, he is presented with his cheque by Lorne Kopelchuk, Chair of The Health Foundation’s lottery committee.

The Health Foundation’s $100,000 Cash Lottery is Robert Larochelle of Moos-omin.

While outside of the Sunrise Health Region, Larochelle says he has bought tickets for the past three years, both because it is a good cause and because he always hoped to win.

While he thought he heard his name on the radio when driving home, Larochelle says he didn’t quite believe it was him. He says he watched his phone when he got home, waiting for The Health Foundation to confirm what he thought he had heard.

“I was looking at the call display, and when I saw them call I thought ‘Oh, that must be it!’” he says.

He adds, he does not have any immediate plans for the money, and that for now he will be saving it.

The funds raised from this year’s cash lottery will be going to additional equipment for therapies, to assist the rehabilitation of people recovering from the aftereffects of a heart attack or stroke.

“This lottery is a big part of our fundraising efforts at the Health Foundation, and we are grateful to everyone who purchased a ticket and helped make this lottery a success. As usual, 100 per cent of the profits are used locally to improve our healthcare,” says Lorne Kopelchuk, Chair of the Health Foundation’s lottery committee.

The winners of the $1,000 draw were Marjorie Langley of Springside, Norman Rediger of Preeceville, Sk., Adeline Horkoff of Kamsack, Sk., Edward Popoff of Benito, Mb., John and Joyce Lupescu of Ituna, Sk., Charlotte Siddons & Laurel Siddons of Preeceville, Sk., Emmy and Ernie Rakochey of Edmonton, Ab., Lorne Roming of Yorkton, Sk. and Delores Strutynski of Stornoway, Sk.

Congratulations to all winners.
