Raiderettes compete in Debden


The Estevan Chamney Crushing Midget Raiderettes gather for a team photo following a tournament in Debden.

The Estevan Juvenile Raiderettes and the Chamney Crushing Midget Raiderettes traveled to Debden from January 27 to 29 for female broomball tournaments.

The Juvenile Raiderettes dropped all four of their games. They lost 6-0 to Odessa, 2-1 to Big River and 8-0 to Debden in the round-robin, and 4-0 to Big River in the bronze medal game. Becca Renard scored the goal in the round-robin game against Big River.

Kristina Chamney was selected as a first all-star team forward and Hillary Horn was chosen as a second all-star team defender.

The Chamney Crushing Midget Raiderettes finished fourth in their tournament. They opened the tournament with a 2-1 win over Bruno. Brooklyn Willerth and Landra Schlamp scored the goals.

Their second game was a 5-2 loss to Big River. Schlamp and Aly Doerr had the goals.

The midget Raiderettes finished the round-robin with a 1-0 loss to the lost Debden team.

Bruno defeated the midget Raiderettes 2-1 in the bronze medal game. Jenna George scored the lone goal.

Goalie Elisha Daneluk was selected as the team MVP.

The midgets will host a tournament in Estevan on February 11, while the juveniles will be in a tournament in Manitoba, also on the 11th.
