QUESTION OF THE WEEK

Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor:

When the city imposes a levy, will we be issued a charitable receipt for income tax purposes? If not, will citizens be allowed the option of making a cash donation equal to or exceeding the amount of the levy? What consideration will be given to those who have already donated an amount equal to or more than the levy? What guarantee is there that commercial-industrial properties, now exempt, will make a donation higher than the levy? Is the levy compulsory in law, and what assurance is there that it will not be increased in years ahead? There are many questions that must be answered. The city should have a public meeting to address concerns and answer questions.

Yours truly,

Claire Kuhn
