Members of the Sacred Heart High School (SHHS) senior badminton team advanced to regional playoffs at Notre Dame in Wilcox Saturday. The competition was great and the games fierce.
The mixed doubles team of Emily Kruger and Preston Liebrecht finished third in their pool but did not advance to the playoffs.
The girls’ doubles team of Brianna Ostafie and Eilish Stranaghan finished second in their pool advancing to the semi-finals. They finished fourth overall, losing a closely battled match to the Esterhazy girls.
The boys’ doubles team of Anthony Fetsch and Dylan Johnson also finished second in their pool, with a close three way tie. Johnson had some of his best playing at regionals, but the boys doubles still missed out, placed fourth, losing out to Melville.
The team had a great season this year says coach Jim Grela.
