Provincial horticulture show to be held in Weyburn

The Weyburn Horticultural Society will be hosting the 2012 Saskatchewan Horticultural Association Provincial Horticultural Show in Weyburn on Friday, August 10.

The Weyburn Society has been a member of the SHA since 1929 and celebrated its 80th Anniversary in 2009. During a celebration with SHA Board members and other societies, the SHA president presented the society with an 80th Anniversary certificate.

This year the society has been extra busy organizing for the Provincial Show. A lot of work is required, because other societies and garden clubs from across Saskatchewan are invited to come and show what they grow. Local gardeners are also welcome to bring in their flowers and vegetables. Membership is not required in order to participate. Entries must be delivered to the Knox Hall between 2:00 p.m to 9:00 p.m. on August 9 and from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. on the 10th. Anyone wishing to enter may call June Cull at 842-7879 for a show book and entry tags.

The Provincial Horticultural Show will be open to the public beginning at noon on August 10. Plan to visit, behold all the fragrant and stunning displays and enjoy strawberry shortcake and refreshments in the tea room.
