Yorkton and area had a dominant showing in the pool at Sask Summer Games as the Yorkton speed swimming club racked up the medals for Team Parkland Valley in Meadow Lake for the 2012 games.

The Yorkton club racked up an impressive fourteen individual medals in the pool, highlighted by impressive medal hauls from sisters Jennifer and Kelsey Haczkewicz, who combined for ten of the club's fourteen medals. Jennifer took gold medals in the 200m Freestyle, 100m Fly, 200m Backstroke and 400m Freestyle before taking bronze in the 200m medley relay. Her sister, Kelsey won gold in the 50m freestyle, silver in the 50m breaststroke, before getting bronze medals in the 50m backstroke, 200m breaststroke, and 200m medley relay events. Backing up the Haczkewicz performance were solid medal hauls from Jayden Lang and Paige Shyiak who were competing in the 13-14 year old girls category. Jayden Lang notched a silver medal in the 50m backstroke before earning a bronze as a member of the 400m medley relay team. Paige Shyiak also earned a bronze as a member of the 400m medley team before earning an individual bronze in the 100m breaststroke event.

Other members of the medal winning relay teams were Emma Just and Mary Pringle (11-12 girls 200m medley) and Alex Flaman and Jillian Just (13-14 400m medley). The dominant performance of Yorkton's young swimmers shows promise of the sport's growth in the city as well as the hard work and dedication of the athletes, parents, and coaches involved with the Yorkton swim club.
