Why???

On May 27, 2012 DEFEAT DEPRESSION walk/run/cycle events will be held across Canada - visit the website, www.defeatdepression.ca to see a map of locations.

In the absence of a formal 'event' here, I am going to do a 'solo' walk (although I would love to have company) from McTaggart SK to Weyburn on Sunday, May 27, 2012 to bring attention to and raise funds for the campaign.

I also hope generate interest in a formal organizing committee for a 2013 event!

I am proud to have been part of a national steering committee formed by the Mood Disorders Society of Canada to launch this national campaign and annual event to raise awareness about depression and other mood disorders.

I want to help reduce the stigma often associated with a mental illness.

This campaign will also raise funds to assist local non-profit mental health organizations deliver services and supports.
